Marilyn Monroe began her career as a model, quickly moving into Hollywood movies. It was her stand out role in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) as a ‘Dumb Blonde’ that really established her career. Unfortunately Marilyn’s comic timing was often overlooked by her sex siren status. Much like Dolly Parton today, Marilyn knew what people wanted to see and purposely played up her dumb blonde persona.
Silver K has had a long history with exhibiting Marilyn Monroes photographs from George Barris, Frank Worth and Sam Shaw amongst countless others. In the slideshow below you can see some of Sam Shaw’s favourite shots of Marilyn.
