George Barris

George Barris’s journalistic career began in his early teens as general Eisenhower’s personnel photographer during World War 2. Barris first met and photographed Marilyn Monroe for the cover of This Week magazine during the filming of “Seven Year Itch”. They corresponded frequently and in July of 1962 he was again assigned to photograph Marilyn this time for the cover of Cosmopolitan. During the last week in July, just one week prior to her untimely death, he became the last photographer to photograph Marilyn Monroe. Barris recalls “she had a great future and couldn’t wait to get going again”.

We also have a large collection of Marilyn Monroe Photographs by Sam Shaw, Bert Stern, and Dezo Hoffman.
